There are many ways to support French in Louisiana, through donations, volunteering your time, or speaking the language with your family. Thanks to a partnership with the state’s Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV), Louisianans can purchase a special license plate in French, the funds which directly support CODOFIL and its mission to promote the development of French in the state.
The OMV “Special Interest” plate named Chez Nous Autres features the state name as “Louisiane,” and the phrase “Chez nous autres” appears next to a blue Louisiana Iris, written in French as “la glaie bleue.” In Louisiana, “chez nous-autres” means “our home.”
How to Get a Chez Nous Autres License Plate

The Chez Nous Autres license plates can be ordered by contacting your local OMV office. Ask for a free quote for a Special Interest plate, Chez Nous Autres (they will need your current plate number to give you a price). From every purchase, $25 goes to CODOFIL to support its mission. The plate is good for two years and at the time of renewal, an additional $25 will go to CODOFIL.
