
The Richard Guidry Cajun and Creole Language Fund (RGCCLF) was established in partnership with the Community Foundation of Acadiana to honor the legacy of Richard Guidry, an educator and author who contributed to the advancement and preservation of the French language in Louisiana. This grant supports projects and initiatives that encourage, increase and improve the use of the multiple varieties of French in Louisiana.
Criteria for Grant Applications
- All applicants must be U.S. citizens and current residents of Louisiana.
- The applicant’s project must incorporate the French language, in whole or in a substantial part.
- Applicants must show how their project will benefit the francophone community in Louisiana and the growth of French in our state.
- Applicants must show an effort to complete the application in their level of French.
- Only complete applications will be evaluated. A complete application consists of the application form, the budget form, a letter of motivation, 2 letters of support, and a résumé from key individuals involved with the project. Please note that the letter of motivation and the résumés must be submitted in both English and French.
- Grants cannot be used for lodging or transportation.
- Selected applicants commit to providing a summary report with receipts and details of how the grant funds were spent no later than 30 days after the project is completed.
- “Richard Guidry Cajun and Creole Language Fund, a fund of Community Foundation of Acadiana” MUST be acknowledged precisely as indicated on the project.
- Grant recipients are allowed only 1 grant within a two-year period. The two-year period will be determined according to the date on which a grant request is approved.

January 1, 2026 to June 1, 2026
All applications received will be reviewed after June 1, 2026.
July 1, 2025 to November 1, 2025
Application period has been closed.
*In the event that numerous applications are received between January 1, 2025 and June 1, 2025 and that all available funds are awarded to accepted applications, the July 1, 2025 to November 1, 2025 application period will be withdrawn.

In August 2025, a Louisiana-based music group, Amis du Teche, was awarded $1,000 for the production of a music video for a single titled Quand ça danse.
