
The David Marcantel Scholarship is offered by La Fondation Louisiane for professionals to attend a French immersion program at the Center for Modern Approaches to Languages and Media (CAVILAM) in Vichy, France. This scholarship is offered to a full-time, K-12 certified French as a Second Language teacher in a public or private school in Louisiana. The recipient will participate in a two-week themed training titled Teaching French as a Second Language today: culture, society and new trends, allowing them to discover ideas for energizing and livening up their French classes.
Program Description
The training will consist of 62 classes with each one lasting 45 minutes (46 total hours of classes). Each Monday morning, a conference pertaining to a variety of themes (i.e. culture and intercultural approaches) will be offered to the training’s participants. Two “discovery” sessions will be offered each week to give the participants the opportunity to discover educational resources and to learn new classroom practices. Upon satisfactory completion of the training, a certificate of participation will be issued.
What's Included in the Scholarship?
The scholarship will cover the registration fee, one round-trip plane ticket, 2-week training, housing during the training, and meals.
The scholarship recipient pays for the passport fee, travel insurance covering medical and repatriation insurance, and any ground transportation in France.
